Hot weather during the whole year with an increase of temperature from December to April (raining season). During dry season, the area of Diego Suarez is windy. Significant variation of temperatures between the coastal area and the high central plateau.

From the end of December to the end of March, there are strong cyclones, mainly in the east area of the island, which can provoke significant material damage (roads, hotels, suspension of supplies and services).
